“It doesn’t matter if you win or lose…if you aced the test…if you (fill in the blank), as long as you did your best.” Anyone remembering the parent, coach or teacher that told you that?
What we know beyond a shadow of a doubt is God loves us no matter what, and excellence honors God. So while this agreement may seem like a no brainer, and the enemy would love nothing more than to get us tangled up in doubt about whether we actually did our best, the bottom line is we get to decide what is truly our best. Our best work, our best thinking. I love the title of Oswald Chambers’s devotional book My Utmost for His Highest. It’s our utmost that God desires, and what honors Him. And yet He gives us grace for the times we aren’t our best. And we can definitely be thankful for that!
This week we’re continuing the four-part series on The Four Agreements, applying the truth of scripture with a business lens, with agreement #4: Always do your best.
