I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. Psalm 62:1-2
Whew, that getting quiet part is toughest for me. I’m a doer. I like to take action and being versus doing has always been the place where I have the most growth to do. Good thing God already knows this about me, because of course He made me! He’s already created a grand design for my life, just like yours. He already knows the obstacles that we’re going to face and He’s already given us the victory (praise Jesus). Yet how often I’m still tempted to wonder what next step I need to take, what next thing I need to do. Often wondering which way is the right way (overthinking in my human way), and if I’m there yet. Sort of reminds me of a cartoon from my childhood with a character saying “Which way did he go? which way did he go?” Or way back when asking my parents that age old question on road trips: are we there yet?
Thank goodness on our hustle with heart journey to pursue success God’s way, He provides the perfect resources that cause us to stop, be still and absorb His message at the perfect time. That’s where I found myself recently while reading Priscilla Shirer’s book Discerning the Voice of God and journaling on where He wants me to be, when I can’t see how the work I need to do (that I’m not so passionate about) connects to His purpose. And her quote from Bob Sores struck me:
Things don’t change when I talk to God, things change when God talks to me when I talk, nothing happens. When God talks, the entire universe comes into existence.
She goes on to tell us, “There is no code for you to crack. No puzzle He’s waiting for you to put together. God has taken upon himself the burden of responsibility for communicating with you. When you’re listening. When you’re patient. When you’re trusting His voice will resonate with power and punch and authority. He will speak and you will know it.” He’s already there, and ready to speak and confirm where He wants us.
Already.
There.
She goes on (my paraphrasing), “There is no need for you to be burdened by or gripped with a paralyzing fear that you are not in God’s will. As long as we are seeking Him first – being in the word, worshiping, seeking, listening, and being obedient to what he has placed before us today. Just today. Then we are in His purposes for right now – and that is all he is asking of you and me.” The point? He’s already there. And if we’re doing the things above, we are already in His will. And the outcomes, the results, and the next steps are His to determine, and He will graciously unfold them before us.
As God-centered entrepreneurs, all we do is centered on Him and keeping Him at the center. We’re already there. I love this song by Casting Crowns You’re Already There – to me it sums it all up:
From where I’m standing
Lord it’s so hard for me to see
Where this is going
And where You’re leading me
I wish I knew how
All my fears and all my questions
Are gonna play out
In a world I can’t control
Oh, oh
When I’m lost in the mystery
To You my future is a memory
Cause You’re already there
You’re already there
Standing at the end of my life
Waiting on the other side
And You’re already there
You’re already there
I hope you find this helpful too!
