Where Discipline Meets Fulfillment - Episode 143

Where Discipline Meets Fulfillment – Episode 143

We’re all prone to wander, even with our disciplined schedules. And sometimes the intention behind our discipline is actually the search for fulfillment (ouch). We’re prone to it. God knows it. The same was true of the Israelites, hence Solomon’s prayer in 1 Kings 8:58:

The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers. May he not leave us or forsake us, that he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his rules, which he commanded our fathers.

The part that gets me is: “Walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes and his rules.”

Knowing He directs me gives freedom from self-reliance, and that’s a relief!

In other words, our discipline isn’t supposed to be about seeking or earning fulfillment. It’s about glorifying Him.

Because our fulfillment comes from honoring the Lord, not from our productivity, achievements or others’ approval.

So where does our discipline intersect with seeking fulfillment? Tune into today’s episode and we’ll unpack it together!

Prayer of Salvation: if are ready to give your life to Jesus, here is a simple prayer of salvation, and I would love to hear from you after you pray so I can pray over you as well! Dear Lord, I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don’t please you. I have lived my life for myself only. I am sorry, and I repent. I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for me, to save me. You did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life; I give it to you. From this day forward, help me to live every day for you and in a way that pleases you. I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you. Amen.
